German Rottweiler



The German Rottweiler is a big, powerful and muscular dog, characterized with a rounded forehead and broad head. The nose and lips of the German Rottweiler are black and the ears are triangular in shape. The German Rottweiler is slightly different from the American Rottweiler. The German Rottweiler is supposedly more stocky and short with a larger blockier head as compared to the American Rottweiler. The origin of the German Rottweiler is also interesting as it is said to have been bred in Rottweil, a German town of Wurttemberg, Some claim that it was originally a herd dog, having descended from the famous Italian Mastiff.

German Rottweiler Facts

The dog is expected to live for roughly 10-12 years and due to their muscular structure they require a lot of exercise. The ideal activities for the German Rottweiler are running in the open, or chasing a bicycle or ball and swimming. Special care must be given to the grooming of the German Rottweiler. The glossy and smooth coat can easily groomed with a brush have firm bristles. The health problems that affect the German Rottweiler are hip dysplasia, entropion and may overeat and snore at times. As far as the nature of the German Rottweiler is concerned it can be said that these dogs are brave, quiet, can be trained very well and remain very loyal towards their owners. When it comes to guarding the family, the German Rottweiler does it ferociously.
