German Boxer



The ancestors of the German Boxer are said to be 2 German mastiff dogs, the Barenbeiszer and the Bullenbeiszer. Later these dogs were crossbred with the strong ancestors of the Bulldog and Mastiff. Initially the German Boxer was treasured for bull baiting, hunting and even for drawing carts. Later on the dog was employed as a cattle dog to round up livestock. As such dogs could learn any trick very fast, they were also popular as theater and circus dogs. Although the German Boxer basically has a German origin, the name is more English, used to describe the fighting style of the dog. Nowadays the German Boxer is a very loving, calm and serves as a perfect family companion. The talented German Boxer is good at guarding, military work, search and rescue, police work, schutzhund, competitive obedience and performing various tricks.

German Boxer Qualities

The German Boxer has a compact body with a shiny coat in colors such as brindle, fawn, white and also different shades of red. The German Boxer is generally very playful and love to bark and play with the food bowl by using its front paws. The nature of German Boxer is to protect his owner and the owner's family. It loves to play and even works hard. A great deal of human companionship is essential for the dog top grow. Even when the dog grows old it remains very athletic. A good German can be taught not to be fierce and jump up at visitors, since the dog is extremely fond of jumping.

The courageous German Boxer can be trained very well to become guard dogs, but the training must be started when the dog is young.
