It is the outskirts of the city that oozes of exoticism and mystic beauty. Some of the most important sightseeing spots can be found in and around the region of the Wilhelmstrasse. This street, in turn, cuts through the historical Marktplatz square. Some of the best sightseeing spots in the city are:The Tanners' and Dyers' Fountain: The Gerber- und Färberbrunnen was built in the year 1920 as a commemoration for the two professions in the city. These two professions have been a major part and parcel of the industrial history in the city.
The Church of St Nicholas is another important sightseeing destination on the city. Built in the 14th century, the church originally served as a chapel.
The Market Fountain: Worth seeing, this particular fountain is known by the name of Marktbrunnen. Built in the 16th century, the statute that is built above the fountain is that of the Emperor Maximilian II, who played an important part in the independence of the city.
The Spitalhof: Having an architectural ambiance of the middle ages, the Spitalhof was built as a hospital but was badly destroyed by a fire outrage in the 18th century.
The Guild Fountain: Built in the 1980s to commemorate the contribution of the Guilds in protecting the rights of the tradesmen and the craftsmen. The Guild Fountain comprises of a cluster of twelve guilds , each comprising of their own sculpture.
Church of the Virgin Mary or the Marienkirche is one of the most important religious destinations in Reutlingen. Built between 13th to 14th century, the church has a Gothic ambiance, marking the ecclesiastical architecture in Reutlingen. It met the same fate as the Spitalhof, having been charred down in the fire of the 18th century. It was resurrected in the beginning of the 20th century.
One can also visit the comely hilly vicinity of the Achalm, which promises of some of the most beautiful sceneries. The view of the city down below is even more mesmerizing.
