The city of Oldenburg is a small but fascinating place in Germany. Situated on the Hunte River, the city is located in the northwestern part of Germany. The history of the city of Oldenburg can be traced back to the period when it was the office of the counts of Oldenburg, which was until the year 1667. After this, the power of controlling the county, was passed on to Denmark. Since 1777, the dukes of Oldenburg found a resting place in the old city, until the year 1918. The former state of Oldenburg had its capital in the old city, from 1918 to 1945.
With an estimated population of about 158,400, the city of Oldenburg is the seat of most of the famous monuments and museums in Germany. Millions of travelers flock in the city to get the taste of the culture and the tradition of the city.
