Heidelberg

Heidelberg Castles

In the old town of Germany are located the historic ruins of castles and fortresses. A walk down the alley, would provide a complete impression of the history and the culture of the City. One of the Heidelberg Castles that has drawn the attention of the tourists from all over the world is the Heidelberg Castle. Built by Prince Elector Ruprecht III, the castle is a fine architectural blend of Gothic and Renaissance style. Presently, the castle proximity is known for the pomp display of music, theater, and performances during the Heidelberg Castle Festival. These are sometimes accompanied by firework displays.

Among the other well known historical sites in Heidelberg City are the Celtic Fortresses, which lie to the Northern side of the river Neckar.

Heidelberg University

Home to one of the most famous universities in Germany, which is the University of Heidelberg or the Ruprecht Karls University, Heidelberg City boasts of world famous humanitarians, scientists and Literary figures. Gothe, Gadamer and Hegel were the students of this university, justifying the conviction that the people around the world have about the educational excellence of the University.
