German Flag

The German Flag, in its present version was chosen way back in 1949 on the 13th of May, flag that has been used jointly by both side of Germany after the divide. The Tricolor flag of Germany comprises of black, red and yellow and the colors were inspired from the army uniform of German soldiers in the 1832 Napoleonic war. The soldiers who had joined the war were dressed in similar colors but it was the war that signified the German unification under the Holy Roman Empire. The colors have later been linked to the colors of the Coat- of arms on the flag if the Holy Roman Empire. In many versions of the Germany Flags the yellow color has been replaced with the gold color.

The East Germany Flag

The East Germany Flag was a modified version of the present flag, which was adopted on the October 1st, 1959 and dismissed on the 3rd of October 1990 after the fall of the Great Berlin Wall. The specialty of the flag was the additional ensign comprising of a hammer, a compass in a circle of rye. The symbol is representative of the working class, farmers as well as the educated middle class citizens of East Germany.

There have been several versions of the German flag, that is the Civil version, State version, the hanging version and the war version. The war flags and any German flag related to the army or navy has the symbol of the Holy Roman Empire, the Eagle in three colors.
