University of Leipzig



The world-famous University of Leipzig is an ancient educational institution in Germany, established at the start of the 15th century. Initially the University of Leipzig was composed of four faculties, namely Arts, Theology, Medicine and Law, which remained intact for the next 500 years or so. Presently students can choose from 190 courses and more to further their education and interests. Such is the diversity of the education patterns of the University that eminent international scholars like the philosopher Christian Thomasius, the poet and theologian Christian Fürchtegott Gellert, the philologist Johann Christoph Gottsched and the psychologist Wilhelm Wundt got interested with the University of Leipzig. The University of Leipzig proudly calls itself the second largest university in Saxony, with 25,000 and more students studying there. The courses are offered semester wise and range from degree to diploma courses. The University of Leipzig's “Center for Advanced Studies” is very popular among students.
