Martin Heidegger is touted to be a renowned German philosopher during the 20th century and he played a great role in contributing towards the thoughts of various subjects like existentialism, psychology, hermeneutics, theology, political theory and many more. He focused his studies in the area of ontology, which is the study of being. Martin Heidegger was greatly considered to be one of the chief figures of existentialism. Life of Martin Heidegger

Martin Heidegger embarked upon a brilliant academic career in Germany, functioning as a successful lecturer at the famous University of Freiburg and in Marburg. In the University he acted as the Rector between 1933 and 1934. During this time, he expressed cooperation with theories of the National Socialist government. During the post-war era between 1945 and 1950, Heidegger was debarred from teaching.
